I hold a Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology, a Master of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. I am licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health as a Professional Counselor and Board Certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. A founding member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, I also hold membership in the American Counselors Association. Each of these boards and associations has a Code of Ethics to which I subscribe. I have been in private practice in Tucson, Arizona since 1990.
My practice includes services to individuals, couples, families and groups. Most of my services involve adults but I also provide services to children in the context of the family and to assess learning disorders and difficulties. My skills include administering and interpreting a wide range of psychological instruments that assess personality, academic skills, cognitive abilities, learning disorders, attention and memory. I often work with adults who need to address a wide range of issues such as depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities or difficulties, stress and relationship skills. I do not testify in court, assess psychological status for law suits, provide character references to civil or criminal courts, or write reports for parole or probation officers.
All therapists have values that guide their work, but many do not openly reveal how their spiritual beliefs influence their work. As a Christian Psychotherapist, I openly declare my beliefs; I depend on the healing power of Jesus Christ. I believe that therapists treat; only God heals. Integrating our Christian faith with psychotherapy is a powerful healing methodology. I expect that those who seek my services see the value of approaching problems with a Christian-faith perspective unless they specify otherwise. Feel free to share your spiritual experiences, both positive and negative, with me. There will be no attempt to convert you or judge you. I expect that you will consider any recommendation or suggestion that I make as just that – a suggestion that you will consider. I expect that you will exercise your free will to decide what you will do with any recommendation I make.
You and God are responsible for the growth, change and outcomes you make while participating in psychotherapy.
A Message From Dr. Russell:

And in him you too are being built
together to become a dwelling in which
God lives by his Spirit.
